It’s been a busy period recently meeting businesses, reviewing vehicle requirements and helping clients plan ahead for vehicles coming up for renewal later in the year.

What we’ve been up to

Over the past few weeks we’ve been out meeting a number of businesses through networking events including BNI and other local business groups.

These conversations are always useful as they give us a good insight into how different companies are currently approaching company vehicles, whether that’s traditional company cars, vans, or newer options such as EV salary sacrifice schemes.

Meeting businesses face to face is still one of the best ways to understand what companies actually need from their vehicles and how their requirements are changing.

Vehicle spotlight: BMW iX3

One vehicle that has been particularly popular with our clients recently is the new BMW iX3.

This is one of BMW’s most important electric vehicles and the first mainstream model built on the Neue Klasse platform, representing a major step forward in the brand’s EV technology.

Early specifications suggest a WLTP range of around 370 miles along with significantly improved charging speeds thanks to BMW’s new 800V architecture.

For company car drivers the vehicle also benefits from the current 3 percent Benefit in Kind rate applied to electric vehicles, making it a very attractive option from a tax perspective.

Demand has been strong since order books opened and current factory build slots are sitting around quarter 4 delivery, with UK allocation already starting to fill up.

For businesses planning company car replacements later this year it is definitely a vehicle worth considering sooner rather than later.

EV salary sacrifice update

Interest in EV salary sacrifice schemes continues to grow.

For businesses it offers a way to provide employees with access to a brand new electric vehicle while also reducing employer national insurance contributions.

For employees it can provide a very tax efficient way to drive a new EV, often at a lower net cost than personal leasing.

We are speaking to more SMEs about this each month as businesses look for ways to strengthen their employee benefits packages while also managing rising employment costs.
