Welcome to the February edition of the Kinetic Brief. A short update on what we’re seeing in the leasing market, a look ahead to some key new models coming, our EV deal of the month, and a bit of news from closer to home.

Market insight | EV adoption is accelerating

One of the most noticeable trends in the UK leasing market right now is the continued growth in electric vehicle uptake.

Industry data from sources such as the BVRLA and wider UK leasing market reports show EV leasing volumes up by close to 30% year on year. This growth is being driven by a wider choice of more accessible models, improved real-world range, and far more competitive pricing than we’ve seen previously.

For business customers, the conversation around EVs has shifted. It’s less about whether they work in principle, and more about whether they make sense financially and operationally. In many cases, with fixed monthly costs, lower running expenses and predictable budgeting, they now do.

We’re seeing this across company cars, salary sacrifice schemes and small fleets, as familiarity and confidence continue to grow.

Cars to watch | 2026 and beyond

BMW 3 Series / BMW i3 (Neue Klasse)
BMW are entering what they call their “Neue Klasse” era, with plans to launch around 40 new or updated models by 2027. Arguably the most important of these is the next generation BMW 3 Series.

There will still be combustion-powered versions and a new high-performance M3, but the real focus is on the fully electric version, which will be called the BMW i3. While the name may sound familiar, this is a completely different proposition to the original city car.

Built on BMW’s next generation EV platform, shared with the upcoming iX3, the new i3 is expected to offer over 500 miles of range. If BMW delivers on that while retaining the balance and driving feel the 3 Series is known for, this could become a very important company car.

Next generation Hyundai Tucson
The next generation Hyundai Tucson is expected to arrive in the second half of the year and looks set to continue the model’s strong appeal with business and fleet users.

It will introduce Hyundai’s new “Art of Steel” design language, with a more upright stance, clamshell bonnet and chunkier proportions. Under the skin, further efficiency improvements are expected, building on a model that already offers a strong mix of practicality, value and reliability.
