Peugeot e-208 GTi – The Electric Hot Hatch Reborn

Peugeot e-208 GTi (2025): Everything We Know So Far

The legendary GTi badge is making an electric comeback. Peugeot has confirmed the e-208 GTi, the performance version of its best-selling electric hatchback, and it's shaping up to be a true game-changer in the compact EV segment. Here's everything we know so far about the 2025 Peugeot e-208 GTi — from power and styling to expected pricing and release dates.

⚡ Performance: Proper Hot Hatch Power

Peugeot isn't holding back with the e-208 GTi. The all-electric hot hatch will produce 280hp and around 345Nm of torque, offering a 0–62mph time of just 5.6 seconds. That puts it firmly in hot hatch territory, rivalling the upcoming Abarth 600e and Alpine A290.

Underneath, the car rides on Peugeot Sport Engineered (PSE) tuning, with a revised chassis, bigger brakes, and a widened track. The e-208 GTi also sits 30mm lower than the standard e-208, giving it a purposeful stance and improved handling credentials.

🔋 Range and Charging

The new GTi uses the upgraded 54kWh battery found in the latest e-208 facelift, offering a WLTP range of around 217 miles. While spirited driving will reduce that number, Peugeot claims the battery balances performance with real-world usability.

Charging is competitive too, with 100kW DC fast charging allowing a 20–80% top-up in around 30 minutes. The e-208 GTi will also support vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, letting you power small devices from the car — ideal for camping or mobile work.

🏁 Chassis and Driving Dynamics

Expect Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, a stiffened suspension setup, and upgraded anti-roll bars to deliver the sharpest driving experience of any e-208 to date. Torque steer has reportedly been kept in check thanks to careful tuning of the front-wheel-drive system.

Peugeot is aiming to deliver the same balance of agility and daily usability that made the original 205 GTi an icon. The new e-208 GTi is being developed with a clear goal: an EV that drives like a proper hot hatch.

🎨 Styling: A Nod to the Classics

The styling of the e-208 GTi brings modern aggression with retro touches. Expect:

  • GTi-exclusive red paintwork and detailing

  • Flared wheel arches and 18-inch alloy wheels

  • Red brake calipers and unique PSE body kit

  • Sport bucket seats with Alcantara and contrast stitching

  • Interior ambient lighting with GTi signature cues

The design pays tribute to the 205 GTi while delivering a future-forward EV aesthetic.

🧠 Tech and Features

Inside, Peugeot’s familiar i-Cockpit layout returns with a 10-inch touchscreen, 3D digital instrument display, and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. Expect the latest safety and driver assistance systems, including:

  • Adaptive cruise control

  • Lane keep assist

  • Blind spot monitoring (optional)

  • Traffic sign recognition

Some users may still find the small steering wheel and high-set dash combo tricky, depending on driving position.

📦 Practicality

With a 311-litre boot, the e-208 GTi retains decent practicality for its class. However, taller passengers may find rear seat space tight. Like the standard e-208, there’s no front storage compartment ("frunk") or underfloor cable storage.

💷 Expected Price and UK Release Date

While official pricing hasn’t been confirmed, industry estimates place the Peugeot e-208 GTi between £34,000–£36,000 when it launches in late 2025. That puts it in direct competition with:

  • Abarth 600e

  • Renault 5 Alpine

  • Mini Cooper SE JCW (2025)

  • Alpine A290

Given the Peugeot Sport heritage and spec sheet, the GTi could easily become one of the most exciting compact EVs of the decade.

🔍 Summary: Is the e-208 GTi Worth the Wait?

Peugeot is promising a true electric hot hatch that stays faithful to the GTi spirit. With aggressive styling, strong performance, and daily usability, the 2025 Peugeot e-208 GTi could be the perfect electric all-rounder for drivers who want fun without compromise.

Whether you're a fan of the 205 GTi legacy or looking for a driver-focused EV with style, the e-208 GTi is one to watch
